Colnasize Gilding Size

Colnasize Concentrate is an easily prepared adhesive used for water gilding applications, particularly when working with Kölner Insta-Clay and burnishing clays. It is used to create the gilder’s liquor, the liquid adhesive solution used to apply gold and silver leaf during the water gilding process.

Preparation is simple: dissolve one measured teaspoon of Colnasize Concentrate in two cups of lukewarm tap water to create the gilder’s liquor needed for gilding. This solution allows the leaf to properly adhere to prepared surfaces such as Insta-Clay or burnishing clay layers.
