Slow-Set Gilding Size is an oil-based adhesive designed to provide
an extended open time for gilding on both interior and exterior surfaces.
This size typically reaches the proper gilding tack within 10–12 hours
and remains open for gilding for up to 12 additional hours, allowing
ample working time for larger or more detailed projects.
For situations requiring an even longer working time, the manufacturer
suggests that a small amount of castor oil may be added to increase the
open time. Once gilding is complete, the finished surface can generally be sealed
with a clear protective coating after approximately 72 hours.
Dux Slow-Set Gilding Size is available in a range of container sizes
including 4 oz (¼ pint), 8 oz (½ pint), pint, quart, and gallon, making
it suitable for both small studio work and large-scale gilding projects.
