Water Based Topcoat
Dux Water-Based Polyshield Topcoat is a non-yellowing, water-based polyurethane sealer designed to protect genuine and composition metal leaf. This high-quality coating is water clear with exceptional clarity, providing durable protection against moisture, abrasion, and wear while maintaining the original appearance of gilded surfaces. Its UV-stable formulation helps prevent yellowing over time, ensuring long-lasting visual integrity.
The fast-drying formula allows for efficient application and builds to a hard, durable finish that is resistant to water, marring, and general handling once fully cured. Suitable for use over genuine gold, white gold, silver, imitation gold, copper, and aluminum, Polyshield offers versatility across a wide range of decorative and artistic applications.
Polyshield can be applied by brush or spray, with a smooth, even consistency that allows for controlled application. It is typically used at package consistency but may be thinned slightly with water if needed. The coating dries quickly, allowing for recoating within a short timeframe and full curing prior to finishing processes such as polishing or waxing.
This topcoat is non-flammable, non-toxic, and environmentally safe, making it suitable for studio, workshop, and interior use where low odor and safety are important considerations. It is available in Gloss and Satin finishes, allowing for flexibility in achieving the desired surface sheen.
Due to the presence of wax residue in certain leaf formats, Polyshield is not recommended for use over patent leaf or ribbon leaf rolls, as adhesion may be compromised.
