Basic Gilding Kit

The Basic Gilding Kit includes the tools and materials to apply metal leaf to a properly prepared surface. The prepared surface needs to be nonporous and smooth. A surface primer, such as shellac, is recommended. Imitation Gold Leaf and Copper Leaf must be sealed after gilding to prevent tarnishing. Lacquer, shellac or other high quality sealers are recommended. Imitation Gold leaf, Aluminum Leaf and Copper Leaf are recommended for interior gilding projects.
