Burnishing Sealers
Dux Burnish Sealers are oil-based pigmented primers designed to simplify the gilding preparation process by eliminating the need for separate applications of a sealer and bole. These sealers create a smooth, uniform surface that typically requires little to no sanding before gilding, helping to reduce preparation time while maintaining excellent surface quality.
Burnish sealers are formulated to seal the substrate, promote strong adhesion, and allow for an easy high burnish with minimal rubbing once metal leaf is applied. Their unique formulation makes them suitable for use on a variety of surfaces including wood, plaster, metal, and composition materials. Available in yellow (ochre), red, and gray, these colors can also be intermixed to create different tonal effects when working with gold, silver, or copper leaf, allowing the gilder to influence the warmth and final appearance of the finished surface.
