Damar Varnish

Damar varnish is a traditional finishing varnish commonly used in decorative arts and gilding applications. In gilded glass work, it is often used to create embossed matte centers, providing a subtle textured effect that contrasts with the brilliance of surrounding gold leaf.

This specialty varnish has long been used by gilders, sign painters, and decorative artists to achieve distinctive visual effects in reverse glass gilding and ornamental work.
